Faith in itself is to know God.
(Confidence or trust in a person or thing: faith in another’s ability.)
Then we must find the presence of God in our heart every day, to be able to have faith in God
Deu 6:4-9
“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.
You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.
You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
In this scripture a few things stands out:
A call to listen.
A call to love God.
These commandments need to be part of our existence. (to learn)
A call to live these things.
I want to look at a call to listen
This is important that we are able to listen, that’s the only way we hear God and learn from God.
Let’s call it a call to silence and solitude; this is not an escape from this life or reality!
To listen is the action we take to make space for God in our lives; we need to have this space.
We do not have the power to continue on, we need God to get a hold of us and allow Him to be God in us.
Want to find ways to be quiet so we can really hear God
Practical:
Switch of TV
Close the door
Hear to what God is speaking,
Set a goal everyday like 5 minutes apart, set an alarm for the time set apart.
Locate special places for being quiet
Control the tongue to keep quiet
Isa 40:31
but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Those who wait upon God will renew their strength
When we spend time with God like this:
We get to know Him
We get to be filled with His presence
We get to be filled with His power
We get to be filled with His knowledge
When we know how to hear God we can step out and follow Him when He calls us, no matter what it is we need to do!
